Reference city and time
These horoscopes use the sky over New York as their reference. Each day's fortune is computed from the planetary configuration at 12:00 noon local time, and published daily at 2:00 a.m. Eastern Time. Noon is a fixed convention — a reproducible moment that represents the day — not a live snapshot of the sky at this moment.
Astronomical positions
Planetary positions are computed astronomically with NASA/JPL's DE440s ephemeris and the Skyfield library. We use the seven classical bodies (Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter and Saturn) with their traditional rulerships. Scores are derived from the angles between bodies (aspects) and their positions relative to the signs.
What the stars (★1–5) mean
Raw scores are converted to five levels calibrated against 30 years of computed results (2000–2029). ★3 is the most common (about 40%), while ★1 and ★5 each appear about 10% of the time — so exceptional days stay exceptional.
Sun position, moon phase and retrogrades
Each page shows the zodiac sign and degree the Sun occupies that day, the moon phase, and any planets in retrograde. All of these are astronomically computed from the ephemeris; the same date always produces the same result.
The important part
The planetary positions are scientific computations, but the rules that turn them into fortunes are our own astrological conventions — not scientific predictions. Please enjoy these readings as daily inspiration and entertainment.
